AutoID refers to automatic identification and data capture, also called automatic identification (Auto-ID). This includes technologies such as barcode, smart label, biometrics, OCR, etc.   <\/p>\n\n<p>RFID technology always requires a transponder (tag), a reader to read the transponder information, and software with interfaces to IT systems and databases.<\/p>\n\n<p>The main advantage of RFID lies in the completely contactless transmission of a massively increased amount of information. RFID readers require neither physical nor visual contact and can detect a large number of transponders simultaneously (or in a very short time) (bulk detection).  <\/p>\n\n<p>Despite the high amount of information, most transponders (depending on frequency) do not require their own power supply and are often rewritable.<\/p>\n\n<p>In RFID solutions, we distinguish two fundamental operating principles for data transmission.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Inductive coupling (125 kHz to 13.56 MHz)<\/strong><br\/>&#8211; short reading distances<br\/>&#8211; slow data transfer rates<br\/>&#8211; problems with iron<\/p>\n\n<p><em><strong>Transponders for this range at 125 kHz<\/strong><\/em><br\/>Range: up to 30 cm<br\/>Good properties in difficult environments<br\/>Low data transfer rates<br\/>Expensive tags<br\/>No anticollision<\/p>\n\n<p><strong><em>Transponders for this range at 13.56 MHz (HF)<\/em><br\/><\/strong>Range: up to 150 cm<br\/>Good properties in difficult environments<br\/>Difficulties with metal<br\/>Anticollision for 10-40 tags per second<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Electroma<\/strong><strong>g<\/strong><strong>netic coupling (400 MHz to 6.8 GHz)<\/strong><br\/>&#8211; long reading distances<br\/>&#8211; high data transfer rates<br\/>&#8211; liquids affect transmissions<\/p>\n\n<p><em><strong>Transponders for this range at 867-869 MHz, 902-928 MHz (UHF)<br\/><\/strong><\/em>Range: up to 3 m<br\/>Good properties in difficult environments, including with metal<br\/>High data transfer rate<br\/>Anticollision for 50 tags per second<br\/>Many standards<\/p>\n\n<p><em><strong>2.45 GHz (passive)<br\/><\/strong><\/em>Range: up to 150 cm<br\/>Poor properties in difficult environments<br\/>Works well with metal<br\/>Anticollision for 50 tags per second<\/p>\n\n<p>In connection with the panel PCs and industrial computer systems manufactured by FORSIS, however, personal data is the primary focus.
