Industrial PC

All product variants and designs from the FORSIS range of PC-based data acquisition devices have theri origins in the classic industrial PC. This term was coined by IBM in the 1970s. In addition to the PC (personal computer), the IC (industrial computer) was created, colloquially the industrial PC for industrial use. The appearance and the technical orientation of all series are still shaped by the original industrial PC. However, the MMI (man-machine-interface) is increasingly in the foreground today. Since then, the classic industrial PC has lived through a multitude of variations and forms. The field of application in the classic manufacturing environment or in the machining industry has remained largely constant with these requirements.

It all started with the classic industrial PC in the form of the MASTER series. The device was even equipped with an original IBM motherboard with a 386SX CPU. At one time the industrial PC was more industrial terminal, then the industrial PC was called BDE terminal and then bacame the PANEL PC (PROFI series). Stripped down, the industrial PC was always available as a thn client version (ENTRY version).

Advantages of a FORSIS industrial PC compared to a normal computer or a feedback station with a discrete structure:

  • PC and MMI (man-machine-interface, i.e. screen and touch) are connected to each other and form one unit

The requirements for the "classic" industrial PC with the highest possible protection class are still needed. But PC-based recording devices have long been used in production and manufacturing areas where the environmental conditions are more pleasant. The ENTRY industrial PC series is suitable for this.

With the PROFI series, an industrial PC was designed for stationary use in an industrial environment. Particular attention was paid to the production of a decive that can be used consistently for different customer requirements. Starting with the simplest BDE feedback up to complex visualization.

The already presented PROFI series is divided into two construction lines depending on the desired touchscreen technology. The classic industrial PC line with "analog resistive touch panel" and the line described below with "Multi Touch" Technology.
The FORSIS modular technology enables the front section with touch and LCD to be placed on the same CPU cassette. Both versions therefore have the same external dimensions - all general technical data remain valid.

Housed in extremely robust, HF-proof aluminium die-cast housings, equipped with numerous interfaces and slots, they offer the highest level of performance, resilience and a wide range of variants.

Typical areas of application for industrial PCs are: 

  • Process visualization

The process visualization enables the graphic representation of processes for quality management, process engineering, business processes and much more. Depending on the focus, either core processes, management processes or supporting processes can be presented. An industrial PC enables the display of time sequences as well as their interlinking.
